It is the sequel to <em>Ancillary Justice<\/em>. This second book has many of the same characters and is in the same overall setting but is quite different from the first one. It is much more character-focused, and honestly, I found it to be a bit tedious as you wait for the plot to develop and to see what happens next. I don&#8217;t feel like it was as good as the first book; however, I am on dangerous ground in saying this. (Also, acerbity.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alacrity\u2014cheerfully ready.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aplomb\u2014self-confident.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aspersion\u2014unfair criticism or an attack on someone&#8217;s integrity. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assignations\u2014meeting in secret. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brimful\u2014completely filled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carousing\u2014drinking alcohol and noisily enjoying oneself. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cerulean\u2014sky blue. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cosseted\u2014pampered. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decade\u2014a set of 10. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Declaimed\u2014speaking as if delivering a speech. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dissipated\u2014overindulging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frisson\u2014a sudden thrill. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implacable\u2014relentless.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just so\u2014this is used in a particular way, so I looked it up. It marks agreement but in a very formal way that might sound old fashioned. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leaden\u2014dull. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non sequitur\u2014a phrase that is not logically connected to the preceding discussion and takes an abrupt break in direction. It is usually used in order to be comical. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partisan\u2014a supporter of a cause. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perfunctory\u2014carried out without much thought or effort. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perquisite\u2014a special privilege. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Platitude\u2014an uninteresting, often cliched or overly obvious, moral statement. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rancor\u2014resentfulness. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sardonic\u2014mocking in a grim cynical manner. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wryly\u2014dry, mocking humor. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quote<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Obvious, in retrospect. Obvious before, you&#8217;d think.
