My daughter heard a lot of scratching sounds overnight. We were talking about what it might be, squirrels in the attic, etc. Then we hear them again during the day. Opening the door to a storage space, there were two raccoon kits! I grabbed my phone and took a picture of one that was still there. Since disturbing them, based on the sounds, they have moved to another storage space off of a different corner of the attic.
One curious thing about raccoons that might surprise many people in the Americas is that they have become well-established in the wild in Germany and are spreading in Europe.
