Ravens

I spotted a pair of ravens flying together in circles today! The image above is the best I could get with my phone. They were very high up. I heard their call earlier (in fact I kept thinking I might have heard a raven for weeks now but wasn’t sure) and used the Merlin app on my phone to try to record and ID them. It was frustrating. I kept missing them and I wasn’t sure what direction they were in. Finally, hours later, I got them! None too soon—my phone was getting low on power. (It also recorded some chickadees that were nearby at the same time.)

I switched to a video recording and shot that before they moved out of sight.

It is faint but you can make out the croaking call in the video.
